Privacy Policy

Who we are

FurYou is the pet rehoming and adoption website of Whelps Animal Care & Rehabilitation Center (“Whelps”, “we”). Whelps decides why and how the personal information described here is used (the “personal information controller” under the Data Privacy Act of 2012, Republic Act No. 10173).

What we collect

Account: your name, email address, mobile number, region and city, and your password (stored only as a one-way hash; we cannot read it).

Adoption application: your full name, email, contact number, home address, your reasons for adopting, housing type and details, whether pets are allowed, income range, financial support, and pet-care experience.

Supporting documents you choose to upload (photos or PDFs, up to 5 per application). Please upload only what Whelps asks for, and cover or leave out any information that is not needed (for example, ID numbers).

Messages and files exchanged with Whelps after approval; post-adoption monitoring updates about your pet; feedback you submit; and in-site notifications.

Technical data: a sign-in cookie (so the site knows you are signed in; it lasts up to 7 days) and the usual connection records kept by our hosting providers. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Why we use it

To create and secure your account; to review your adoption application and decide whether Whelps approves it; to communicate with you about it; to record the adoption and follow up on the pet’s welfare afterwards; to answer feedback; and to protect the site against misuse.

We do not sell your information and we do not use it for marketing.

Who can see it

Authorized Whelps administrators can see applications, supporting documents, messages and monitoring updates. Other adopters cannot see yours.

We use service providers to run the website: Vercel (website hosting), Supabase (database and private file storage, hosted in Singapore) and, for password-reset emails, an email delivery provider. They process data only to provide those services for us.

We disclose information to others only when the law requires it.

Security

Passwords are hashed. Uploaded documents are kept in private storage and are opened only through short-lived links after we check that you are the applicant or an administrator. Access to administrator pages requires an administrator account. No system is perfectly secure; tell us at once if you suspect misuse of your account.

How long we keep it

Adoption records are kept for as long as they are needed to document the adoption and follow up on the pet’s welfare. You may ask us to delete your account and documents; we will do so unless we must keep a record for an open adoption, a monitoring obligation, or by law.

Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act you may ask to be informed about, access, correct, object to, or request erasure or blocking of your personal information, to receive a copy of it, and to claim compensation for damage caused by unlawful use. You may also complain to the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).

Children

FurYou is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or apply to adopt.
